A fourth of July Cookout in the winter

We decided The Fourth of July should always be celebrated, no matter where we are in the world; so we set out for Shelly Beach with burger meat, rolls, corn on the cob, chips and watermelon in hand. Turns out it was a bit chilly by the time we got there, so we didn't do much more than grill and eat - but it was still a nice way to celebrate our country's birthday. Oh and we would have gone for some good ole' American Beer but it's crazy expensive here, so cider it was.  Ha! Who'd a thunk it. We ended up with a little less than what we started with because as Eric turned around to look at the kookaburra bird "up in the old gum tree" that I was pointing out to him, it swooped down and literally stole some a burger right off the ole' barbie. Luckily the bbq's here are more like hot plates and it takes f o r e v e r to cook a burger, so the meat was still pretty mushy and fell right back on the grill. Plan foiled for the bird, one point for us... I think? Anyway, we got a kick out of it and I had a good time taking pics of the kookaburras while Eric finished cooking the burgers. All in all, a relaxing fourth of July. Hope everyone else enjoyed the holiday. We miss you!

Three kukaberras in the tree. Can you spot them all?
