Taronga Zoo With Eric

On Sunday I finally got Eric to the Taronga Zoo, which I was so excited for him to see. The zoo is accessible by it's own ferry from Circular Quay and is positioned on a hill that looks out over Sydney Harbor and across to the city skyline. In all it's beauty it really is the most inspiring zoo I have ever been to with such a strong presence  in their focus on animal conservation. And on top of that, every time time I have visted the animals seem so active and content. Even with it being a rainy day, the visit turned out perfect with up close encounters with the Lions, hilarious baby elephant antics, and a bird show with my favorite feathered friends - the cockatoos. We we still have to go back as there is so much more to see.
Aside from the awesome post-rain lighting that made for a couple great pictures of the harbor, I got some pretty fun videos of the lions and caught the baby elephants behaving just like children.  So please enjoy the clips if you have time. Feel free to share via Youtube or whatever.  xo, Ash

It's the "don't be thinkin' about takin' my meat" look.

Any small children in there? Anyone...anyone?
I'm too sexy for this zoo.
Duck vs. elephant stand-off.
"It's so convient that there was a giraffe size whole in the cave, don't ya think"

Tee,hee, I can smile with this reed. No toothy chimp smile necessary.

Just doin' the whole pit check. Standard.
When tool belt fails, use teeth.

No words needed.

Do you see the sadness in the chimp's eyes in the background. Kills me.
on the catwalk...
Who's this cute monkey?
Skycar down (or up) to the bottom of the zoo to catch the ferry. We did it backwards... I suggest  exploring the zoo from top to bottom in the future.

Ferry back to Sydney's Circular Quay from Zoo to catch the next ferry back to Manly.
My favorite "tree of life" look-alike under the Sydney Harbor Bridge in the background.
Passing by the Opera House.
Finally got a picture together in front of bridge, while waiting for the Manly Ferry to take up home.
Wine turns to dinner and wine back in Manly at Hugo's - another favorite place to dine and chill.
