Meet the Cockatoo Family...our daily visitors.

Wow, it is one thing to hear your own voice on video but another to have to listen to your bird voice, which is even more annoying than a baby and pet voice. Ha! Sorry about that in advance.

In case you guys don't know, a few days after arriving in Sydney we noticed cockatoos on the balconies across the street from ours. Shortly after adding a bird seed treat to a plant on the balcony, I looked up from working at my computer to see not one but three cockatoos having a go at the treat. Within a few minutes seven cockatoos arrived. I was REALLY excited to meet these guys and have since become a twice daily stop for them. Usually it's just two or three of the same cockatoos, but sometime all seven to nine show up. I prefer when only a couple come as they are easier to manage. They are all really cool. They eat out of your hands and a couple of the same ones insist on sitting on my arm to eat. We also have a couple lorikeets (small rainbow parrots) that come through every now and then. They are very sweet too, and like to sit on the bowl of food when I hold it out for them. I have video and photos of all of this, but will add the video of my first encounter with the cockatoos here. Here is a wikipedia link with info about the Sulpher-crested cockatoos.

If you would like to see  more early photos of "my" cockatoos click here. To meet the cockatoos in person watch the video below.
