Today we combined Featherdale Wildlife Park, an animal sancuary we heard great things about and checking out the Hillsong Church Sunday evening service, as they were both in the same general area about an hour west of us.Featherdale turned out to be very nice. Imagine someone that had a few animals and then kept buying property around their house and overtime was able to take care of every local wild animal that needed a home or rehabilitation... and that is what Featherdale is. It does not feel like a zoo. Tho the spaces for the animals are not huge, it seems that they at least are well taken care of and loved. I don't know all the stories about why the animals are there, but the vast amount of species of birds they had was impressive.
As I have mentioned before, Eric and I have a much great appreciation for birds after living in AU and having our own wild cockatoos and lorikeets come and visit up on a daily basis. I love, love, love all the color combinations in the birds of Australia and was mesmerized by them to the point of needing to take pictures of specific birds just to remember their color combinations. I love the kookaburra's brown and blue coloring and hope to one day paint a baby boy's room with that inspiration. I also love the colorful mini birds you see at the end of the photos, and see now how clothing is totally inspired by nature.
After Featherdale we checked out Hillsong Church. Eric and I have been trying to find churches that he and I both like and we thought this one looked intriguing. We liked it a lot.
Enjoy the pics. I did not color correct them, they are just straight out of the camera.

I added this video because I thought it was so sweet how the pink parrot was scratching the cockatoos head for him. The cockatoo continued to put his head down in request for the pink parrot to keep scratching as soon as he would stop. It reminded me of how I ask Eric to keep scratching my back as soon as he stops, too. And at the end of the video is a clip of the Rock Parrot. I liked how much he interacted with us and yet was a much smaller and more manageable size than a cockatoo. Maybe we will have two of these one day?? Tho that would not be so easy with cats.
