Last weekend: Baby shower and volunteering

Hi all,
Eric and I checking in here. Not much exciting to update you on. We did a couple things last weekend so we thought we'd post a couple pics of it.
Eric had his first friend's baby shower to attend. Dustin and Jenny are having a baby boy any day now and we had a lot of fun attending their shower in Burbank.
On Sat. evening Eric, Katie and Joe (Eric's close friends from college) went out for one last night of fun in the Southbay to send Katie off to Houston to start a job with Teach for America. I stayed in because I had an early morning to get to. On Sunday, I volunteered with the nonprofit called "Girls on The Run." It's a national running program geared towards building preteen girl's self-esteem and healthy lifestyles through runnning. This event was really neat because it was a lot of the girls first 5k, and the event was the Santa Monica Classic 5k AND 10k (combined). As you can see in the photo's the girls have a running buddy and even tho they are so young they are running amongst really hard core runners.
 Enjoy the photos!

Love,
Ash and Eric
Dustin, Dave (E's old roommate) and Eric with their pacifier necklaces at the baby shower. - No room for baby after the awesome gifts from the shower!

The girls finishing the 5k with their running buddies! They were all so sweet and so excited!

The beginning of the race  The woman with her hands up is an Australian that won the 10k. She came in as I was photographing the girls just finishing the 5k. - One of the girls looking at her GOTR medal she got after completing the 5k.

This memorial was being set up as I was heading to the parking lot at the Santa Monica Pier after the Girls on The Run event. It was not open yet, so I could only read the signs from my camera lens, but it appeared to be a representation of only some of the many Iraqis killed in 2003. The amount of crosses was a very powerful site. I also thought the red, white and blue made a strong statement. I am curious as to what the timing of the memorial was for.
