Puppy and Kitten Play Date!

Last night, Melanie’s lab puppy, Chowder, and Karen’s tiny orange kitten, Monty, both came for a play date during one of the NBA Finals games. Ferrah had a great time getting to know them, but Coqui wanted nothing to do with the young new friends, so he retreated the back of the house.  We know he would get used to a puppy or kitten over time, but as a visitor there was not much need worry about his antics. 


We were so impressed with Ferrah and love for the kitten. She could not wait for us to let the tiny little guy out of his carrier. She was pawing at the door and wagging her tail intently from the moment he entered the house. We are sure that her love for this new kitten came from her abundance of love for her best friend, Coqui. She tried to play with him just like Coqui and would spin around and give her little donkey kicks, like she does to any pet she wants to play with. Montly was not ready to roll around with her, but he was curious enough to follow her around and play with the toys. We are sure he will be rolling around with her on future play dates in no time. 


Typical of the sweet natured lab puppy, Chowder wanted to play with everyone - but the poor little guy was much bigger than the kitten and almost bigger than Ferrah! This of course made both Ferrah and Monty a little wary- but they will be rough housing in no time. :-)
