This weekend was really nice. Daddy kept saying how much he enjoyed it. It was our first warm weekend at home in the Bay Area since I can remember! On Friday night we skipped curbside cocktail and settled into bed early to watch a movie. I got to hang out with Mommy and Daddy to do that. We watched Princess Diaries 2. It's a nice calm movie that allowed me to fall asleep with them. On Saturday we hung out at the house with all the windows open. Mommy unplacked clothes from our Tahoe trip and Daddy and I went on a walk to Subway to get sandwiches. I was supposed to sleep but I didn't. When we got back we played in the front yard and had a picnic. That's where we eat on the ground on a blanket but I was more interested in running around. Mommy and Daddy enjoyed watching all the people on our street going to our neighbor's open house. They are moving to a lakeside community in Georgia and selling their house. Daddy said he'd offer them twenty bucks but they said they couldn't take less than 2.3. I mean, I don't know a lot about numbers yet but to me that sounds like less than twenty? I guess I have a lot to learn about numbers. Oh speaking of numbers. These days I notice all numbers and letters. When I see a number first I say "nine." Then sometimes i actually identify it correctly. Sometimes I count to three and sometimes five. I like to keep mommy and Daddy on their toes. Oh and speaking of toes! I just love reaching up on my toes to grab the magnetic letters off the fridge. When I see letters I say "abc's" and then sometimes identify the letters in the words. But I'm really good at naming letters individually in my Sesame Street book or when mommy and daddy write them on the magnadoodle or finding them in a pile of letters on the floor. Sometimes i say the letter name, sometimes the phonetic sound or sometimes a word that starts with the letter. I've even started chosing my own word that starts with the letter when Mommy asks me what starts with "A, B, C, etc."
Oh and I like to talk. I repeat most words Mommy asks me to say and like to point out objects to find out the word. Of course I still talk like a baby So not everyone can understand me, but my signing helps because I can use it with the verbal word and it's easier to communicate. Recently I've also started using Sentences and possessive conjunctions. I say things like "here you go," "no Mommy go," what's this?" And when talking about Things that belong to Mommy,I say "Mommy's?"
Oh yah, I was talking about our weekend. On Saturday afternoon Daddy mowed our backyard while I napped and then we made yummy burgers and ate them in our backyard. I even got to look at the moon and watch the stars come out while we ate! That was cool!!
And guess what! On Sunday we went to San Francisco and participated in a race! Oh I just loved seeing all the people run! I wanted to run with them some bad but Mommy said I couldn't till it was over because there were too many people so I had to stay in my jogging stroller. That's okay, i liked to pump my arms and say "run!" Do you know why we did the race? To remember my Granddaddy P.B. and honor His effort to find a cure for himself and others by participating in a clinical trial when when he was fighting cancer. I know my Mommy wishes he was still here so we could all be together but at least there are things we can do to keep his memory alive like the Multiple Myelmoa Race for Research.
After the race we walked all the way down to the base of the Golden Gate Bridge!! That was so neat! I recognized it from my books! I pointed to it and said "Bridge"'and "book." I got to "run" and was so good about holding Mommy's hand. Eventually we made it all the way back to the beginning of the beach and we finally got to sit down in the sand and play. We'd been walking along a path forever that lined the bay and I couldn't wait to play. Mommy got me some cardboard stacking blocks that have a redwood tree on them at the GG park National Park visitor center and I loved digging in the sand with them, filling them and pouring them out. Mommy really liked that because she got to sit and relax for once. Eventually we walked back to the parking lot where we started the race and I got to do some more running on the Marina Green in front of our car. That's a big open Grassy space by really pretty houses that look out at boats and the bay. Mommy flew the kite she picked up the store with my boxes and new book and you know what!? She said when she was flying the kite that it suddenly reminded her of my Granddaddy P.B. Teaching her how to fly it! She said it made her remember him showing her how to let the string out really fast and keep it tight and that the zig zag motion of string letting out and the pull of the kite reminded her of being with him! That's pretty neat since today was kind of a day for him!!
Well that's all for now!!
We are so excited about Spring here! Come visit so we can go explore more! I have so much to see and learn!!
